problems with importing data ... error while initializing translat

I have Office Enetrprise 2007 on several computers (home, laptop and work)
and wanted to import calendars and contacts from work to home. I saved the
data as xls files and was readily able to import the data into Outlokk on my
laptop. However, attempts to do so on my desktop always leads to the
following error message:
"An error has occurred with the Microsoft Outlook translator while
initializing translator to build a field map. Unable to laod File Access
Engine (.FAE) DLL, additional Outlook translators can be installed from the
ValuPac"

I've attempted fix this this by the following;
1. Simply running the repair option in setup --- no effect
2. Removing the MSOCache and running repair --- again no effect

I was able to copy the calendar and contacts by copying and replacing the
Outlook.pst file, but I'd still like to be able to have Outlook work as it
should (import from Excell or othere formats).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There is no need to go through such loops, you simply copy the data file on
one and open it on the other

Thanks, I did that, but was trying to get the program to work as it should.
I've had some problems with other software integrating with Outlook and
thought that this issue might be indicative of a larger problem. I cannot,
for example, synchronize my Palm with outloook; not, can I get Eudora 7.x to
import anything from Eudora. In the case of the Palm, the sync fails; in the
cas of Eudora, I get an error message about a problem with MAPI32.

I am of the mind to unistall and reinstall Outlook in hope of getting these
issues resolved. Any thoughts?

That's a problem with the sync software, usually.

You can't get Eudora to import from Eudora?

That probably won't help. See this:

Sounds reasonable, thanks.

Oops, meant to say that Eudora could import from Outlook (not a major isues,
just perhaps indicative of a problem)
