problems with incorporating recorded sounds

I'm an instructor trying to enhance my powerpoint
presentation with audio. I was able to include several
narrations, but with several lectures (and several
narrations), my hard drive was soon full. Three questions:
(1) is there a way to imbed the sounds into the powerpoint
so that when I burn it to a cd or upload it to my
webcourse, it doesn't have to link back to my harddrive
for the sounds (which would then give me the option to
delete them so I can get my hard drive space back)? I know
the size would be large, but it would only be temporary
until I burned the cd and then deleted them.

(2) This goes along with the first. My computer has a
partition, and when one was filled, I had to move the
sounds over to the other side to make room, but in the
process, all the lectures that were linked to the sounds
that I moved suddenly couldn't find their links to the
sound. Is there any way to help them find each other
again, short of going through each slide and telling it
where the new sound is? My fear is if I go through all of
that, and then burn the powerpoints to the cd, with the
new sound references, that once I copy the sounds to the
cd, the links between them will be lost again.

(3) Is there any way to compress the sounds so they don't
take up so much room?

You could place all your sounds in the same folder as the presentation
before you link them - thereafter, you'll need to copy the entire folder to
the CD.
