Problems with links under Excel XP opening Excel 98 files

When I open an Excel 98 file containing links to other
files under an Excel version earlier than XP (I suppose
it is Excel 2002), the values resulting from the links
were displayed, even if the source file was not available
any longer. However when I open the same file under Excel
XP, the result of the link is #Ref and the value is not
displayed any longer. Is there a possibility to make
these values visible again?

Hi,

Try setting calculation mode to manual before opening the
file.
