I have recently bought a new pc and have re-installed my
exiting programs and transferred my own files.. Both
machines run Window XP home and AOL broadband as my ISP.
All went well, but ran into problems with Outlook 2000,
which program I need to communicate with my Orange mobile
phone.
When I installed it - incl. the update O2kSp3 - on my old
machine it went very smoothly, perhaps because there was
no requirement to set up an e-mail arrangement. Now I have
spent hours and hours to get it working and I have a
feeling that in my frustration I have somewhere upset the
system. I have downloaded a number of Microsoft knowledge
base articles mentioned hereunder to help me to solve the
problems.
First message was that Outlook was unable to open my
default e-mail folders and the location to send and
receive mail could not be found.
195578 OL2000 (IMO) How to Set Up Internet Mail Accounts
and
195782 OL2000 Working with Personal Folders
243336 OL2000 AOL E-mail Service is not available for
Micro Outlook Users (please note that it is possible to
access AOL IMAP servers and set up instructions are
available for both Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express
in Windows XP)
The second message is "Cannot start MS Outlook. MAPI32.dll
is corrupt or wrong version This could have been caused by
installing othr message software. Please reinstall
Outlook".
I think that somewhere at this point I lost my cool as I
believe I just deleated the Outlook progam instead of
using the delete facility on the installation disk. I have
used the system restore since as well as re-installing the
software several times.
I downloaded article. 260970 OL2000 How to replace a
Missing or damaged Mapi32.dll file.
I have executed the instructions a couple of times but the
message comes back every time.
Basicly all I want is to use Outlook to 2000 for the
Calender and Contact chapters so that the data can be
transferred and maintained to operate my mobile phone.
At the moment I am really stuck and sincerely hope that
that there is somebody who can help me solving the problem.
With thanks in advance.
