Problems with normal.dot

Hi,

We're having mysterious problems with normal.dot recently that happen
on multiple computers.

The next behaviour happens only when outlook is running, and is
configured to use Word as the email editor:
When opening Word with a command line switch ("/whatever" - which means
that MS-Word will be opened as a new instance), on close Word shows a
pop up that tells that Normal.dot has changed and should be saved. When
the user clicks on "Save", the application tells him that the file is
locked by another application (Outlook....).

Is there something I can do to prevent this? There are no add-ins
installed.

Thanks,
Shay

simply delete it directly from file explorer with no
office programs running.....you can also do it
is safe mode as well.

in order to be "really" sure it would be
helpful to so a system
wide file search for that file....

I have seen that file pop up in several folders....
but there should only be one of them in the office
startup folder.

But again, if it is deleted or not found, it will
automatically be created by office...

Also, because you mentioned a commandline switch.
Create a normal1.dot for word use then try something like /ttemplatename
to call for it

The might be helpful until you can repair office....
