problems with Normal.dot

I am using Word 2003 and I have several problems with normal.dot.
I can't personalize the template, neither with a new toolbar or with new
commands in toolsbars. The changes doesn't remain after close the program or
close the computer.
The file normal.dot is not in my computer. I have tried a completed search
and it doesn't appears in any folder. The templates folders are empty.
Can anybody help me?

Normal.dot is a hidden file, so you need to enable display of hidden
files and folders in Windows Explorer or My Computer to see Normal.dot.
Is Adobe Acrobat 7.0 installed on the computer? If yes, then the
Acrobat 7.0 Create Adobe PDF toolbar add-in for Word prevents Word from
automatically saving changes to the normal.dot template (which is where
toolbar customizations are stored). See
