I thought I would update my Office software along with all the 98SE updates
before the plug is pulled. The Office Update site identifies the necessary
downloads and I save them on the hard drive. When the installer runs to load
the updates, they all come back with " The expected version of the product
was not found on your system". When I try to update on-line same result.
I ran the office repair tool and it didn't make any difference. When I open
Word etc is says it is running SP3.
I have had problems with some bad sectors on the hard drive which I now have
recovered from and I know some of the data in the user.dat files corrupted
(three users on system), but to all intent and purpose everything appears to
be ok accept that it will not update.
Is the only option to deinstall/install Office totally or is there some
Registry entries that I could check first?
Thanks
