Problems with office

When I go into Word or Excell I cannot edit a current, or
open a new document. It tells me that modification is not
allowed b/c the document is locked. I have uninstalled
and reinstalled and the same problems occur. This was an
OEM install but HP cannot help me with the issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions to the solution to the
problem? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Before opening the document, right click on it, go to properties and see
what is checked (ticked).
