Problems with Outline Numbering

S

Sam

Hello,

Please help - when I type my outline, Word creates incorrect section numbers
starting in chapter 2 below [the first section is 2.3, and not 2.1].

Unfortunately, Word doesn't allow me to edit those section numbers. Is
there any way to edit the section numbers manually, or get Word to generate
correct section numbers?

Thank you for your help!

First of all, click Templates and Add-Ins on the Tools menu. Clear the
check box next to "Automatically update document styles" if it is
selected. Click OK to close the dialog box.

Next, make sure numbering is set up as described at
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html, apply
styles to paragraphs and then, if necessary, place the cursor in the
problem paragraph and press CTRL+Q.
