Problems with Outlook 2003

B

Barrie

It appears to have several copies of the personal folders, non of which are
removable, they all seem to be using the same details, My problem is I've
tried a repair, tried to delete them and tried uninstalling and reinstalling
Outlook. It still searches for the same .pst file. I am prepared to create a
new .pst file but outlook won't open if I delete or move the old one even
after a complete reinstall of Office.

Please help, I'm getting desparate now.

Create a new mail profile - yours has corrupted.

Thanks Milly, this works but I can't close the old profiles, it says, "The
operation failed. An object could not be found", any ideas?

Thanks again Milly, but this only shows one profile 'Outlook'? and I assume
I don't want to delete this.

I don't understand - you asked how to delete the old profiles... but you
only have the one Outlook profile showing. Where did you want to delete the
old profiles from?

Sorry Milly, I probably haven't explained this properly, under All Mail
Folders window, I have Personal Folders, (created to hold my Inbox etc), and
2 lots of Archive folders which when I click on them a Pop up box appears
which says, "This set of folders could not be opened", I suspect I deleted
the pst file or something whilst I was trying to sort this out. Under
Tools - Email accounts - View or change existing accounts, the New Outlook
Data File still shows my Personal Foulders and 2 copies of Archive Folders
which I cant get rid of. Control panel - Mail - Profiles only shows Outlook,
(which I assume is my Personal Folders). I have tried a complete uninstall
and reinstall of both Outlook and Office, both of which failed to rectify
the problem.

Hope this explains it better, sorry about my ignorance.

Many thanks

Barrie

1. Profiles are not data files. Profiles ACCESS data files depending on how
you have them configured.

2. Search your hard drive (turn on searching hidden/system folders in
Windows Search) for any file with a .pst extension. When found, note the
exact location(s).

3. Go to File->Data File Management. How many .pst files show up there?

4. If only one, then go back to the file menu and use File->Open->Outlook
Data File. Navigate to the location of your found .pst files and open them.

You can now access your archive.pst file in your folder tree. If you do not
want to have it always showing, then right click and select "Close."
