Apologies if this topic has been done to death, but I have lost the
ability to insert Flash (.swf) files in my PowerPoint:Mac
presentations.
I used to be able too, but now I always get the error message "File
Format not supported" when trying to insert the files.
Current trouble shooting information:Macbook Pro 17", OS 10.4.8,
Powerpoint 11.3.2, Quicktime 7.1.3.
I have searched the 'net, but cannot find relevant answers.
I have tried the following. I know that PowerPoint uses Quicktime as
the rendering engine, I have enabled Flash within the preferences, and
the .swf files do play in the QT Player.
I know that PowerPoint has limits with the version of Flash, so I have
created my test files in v3, v4, v5, v6, & v7, but all give the same
error message.
I have opened files that I successfully created last January with v5
..swf files, and they open as static images, but will not play as
animations.
I have also created a new 'clean' account on the Mac in case it was an
error with my running version, but it gives the same message.
Can I ask of any of the PPT:mac gurus if there is some known
configuration change in the combined PPT/Mac OS/QT system that creates
this problem?
Many thanks,
Murray
