Problems with PPS2007 and Project

B

Brett Gruchow

I have several issues.

I have installed Project server on a 64 bit machine and then found out that
I could not install the PPS. So as recommended I installed the PPS to a VM
running 32bit server 2003 on the same machine.

I can log into the Project server just fine and it works great. What I can
not get to work is the PPS. it will not let me log in no matter what I do.
I am using windows authentication on both servers. and both services are
running in a domain administrator account.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your event log for errors concerning project server.

Also, check SQL log files to see if you are seeing errors there and you may
want to run profiler on your project databases and see if logons are
occurring.

What I see in the log file for the PPS PPSAccountIndex.dbo.sfLog is that the
account name is invalid or the username is invalid.

Are you trying to log on with the same account that was used to install MOPPS
? If not, try that account.

Ensure that Anon authentication is disbaled in IIS.

That got me on the right track. I did have anon turned off on the Virtual
directory, but not for the site. The other issue was that I installed it
under the admin account and was trying to log into with my domain account. I
discovered this by looking at the IIS logs and noticed that even when I
tryied to log into the PPS with the system account it was using my domain
account. a quick login to the server as admin and using localhost I was able
to get it up and running. added my domain account and I can now log in.

Now I am having trouble connecting the two. when I go to preferences and
look at the project servers it tells me that there are no defined Project
servers for this account. I have looked everywhere, and the only place that
I can find the Project Server Management Page is under settings and Project
Server Gateway, but this is greyed out.

Can you please log in to IIS and check the identity tab for the palnning system website.
What is the Login type specified there. Alter the login details accordingly and restart the IIS.

Also make sure that the planning process service is started
