Summary:
I have suddenly been having problems in publishing my website from my laptop
computer to the web host, and vice versa. The problems do not occur when
using my desktop computer.
Details:
The first time:
Publishing from the host to the laptop, loading the file list from my hard
drive was fine, but then the list from the web host was very slow, and never
completed. After 10 or 15 minutes I had to halt the system.
I made repeated tries. Various things happened:
A number of times I got the error message : “Your system is low on virtual
memory. Windows is increasing the size of your virtual memory paging file
.....â€
Checking my system statistics a couple times, the Page File figure was 1,339.0
When the Publish Web screen finally opened, I got the message: “System
exception: Access violation.â€
Sometimes FP just closed automatically during the process.
Once when publishing from the desktop to the web host, I also got a “virtual
memory†error message, but after that it did load and run.
Later, trying to publish from the web host to the laptop, I got the “System
exception: Access violation†message again.
On a second try, the loading from host to laptop seemed to be proceeding,
but when I tried to open the file I got the message: “The version of the
FrontPage server extensions installed with http://www.witherspoonsociety.org
does not support the Navigation view.†I could not open the navigation view,
nor folder nor page views.
Then I got the message “System exception: access violation.â€
I closed FrontPage and AOL. Reopening AOL it took at least 3 minutes to
open. Computer statistics showed a Page File figure of 1,344.0 . Right now,
without having tried to publish from FP since rebooting the laptop, the Page
File number is 672.
