Problems with Receipt

I got an email with a read receipt requested and I agreed for outlook to
send it. For some reason the read receipt cannot be sent and I think there
is a restriction from my POP3 account. Now everytime I try to send and
receive it tries to send something that always fail.

My question is: How do I cancel the sending of the read receipt?

My outbox is empty, but the status bar tells me it is sending one message.
After removing and adding the account again it still tries to send
something, which keeps failing.
