Problems with receiving email using Outlook XP and Vodafone 3G Co.

I have got a 3G Vodafone Connect card with Dashboard software supplied. Once
I have installed Dashboard software and drivers for 3G PCMCIA card, Outlook
will no longer pick up email. It seems to connect to email POP3 server, see
the message headers, Norton evens seems to virus scan them, BUT then it says
:-

'Task 'PLUS - Sending and Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC0F) : 'The
connection to the server was interrupted. If this problem continues, contact
your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server
responded: ????????????'

However, can send mail fine. SMTP server connection and functioning is fine.

Really pulling out hair? Is this a general incomapatibility problem with
symbian software?
