Problems with rule defined in Junk Mail flagging

I recently shifted to Entourage's system for diverting junk email into the
Junk folder. One piece I decided to have all future mail from that sender
route to another folder and set the category. Now all of my incoming mail is
following that rule. I even deactivated the rule and my mail keeps going
there. This doesn't seem right. Any ideas how to stop the madness?

You must have a rule that is moving the message. There are 3 different kind
of rules in Entourage:

Mailing List Manager (MLM)
Junk Mail Filter
Rules (custom rules you create)

The most likely culprit is the Mailing List Manager (MLM). It's very easy to
set up a MLM rule by accident, when you are marking a message as 'not junk'.
The wording of that dialog is ambiguous to say the least. Check if there is
an MLM entry (look for MLM entries under the tools menu) with the local
Inbox as the target folder. You can select to use the Mailing List Manager
(MLM) rule or your custom rule. Mailing List Manager rules run before your
other rules.

That was the problem. I looked at that window, but the name of the rule was
for the item I intended so I didn't open it to edit. The action it set up
was counterintuitive.

Glad that fixed your problems. The Mailing List Manager (MLM) is an easy way
to set up rules and works extremely well for list mail. However, it seems
that marking mail as junk just isn't clear because this issue if a top 10
FAQ.
