problems with spell check

Sometimes documents in Word (v.X and 2004) do not spell check at all.
It is enabled in preferences but misspelled words are not corrected.
How to fix?

Is it possible you have inadvertently, added the misspelling to your
custom dictionary?

You can edit the custom dictionary, you can use the steps to look and
see if you did. if so nuke the entry.

Make sure you have not set the "Language" of the text to something you do
not have, or to "Do not check spelling or grammar".
