Problems with starting office programs

I was not able to start any Word or excel programs. I
would get a corrupt file notice.

I tried to uninstall office so I could reload the Office
program, but it gave me the same error message, always
showing the file C\program
file\microsoftoffice\office\MS09.DLL.

After several attemps to reinstall Office 2000 I was able
to use the repair program and the installation stopped and
the following window appeared. " Could not register type
library for files: C\program file\microsoft
office\office\MS09.DLL". I hit the retry button and woudld
not work. I hit the ignor button the the reinstallation
continued. I am now able to start both the Word and Excel
programs.

What can I do to repair the above mentioned problem.
