Problems with static guides in PowerPoint 2008

I am having a couple of problems with static guides in PowerPoint 2008 on Leopard. First of all, when I move a guide, sometimes they will disappear. Also, when trying to add a new guide by alt-dragging an existing guide, the new guide is seen while dragging, but then disappears when I release. Anyone else experiencing this, and is there a fix? It works fine with PP 2004 on Leopard. Thanks for your help.

Type [Apple Key] + G. Try it a couple of times. I'm having a problem where
I cannot Alt + drag to duplicate an existing guide. I also can't drag in a
new one.

Now Alt+drag works.... I closed Powerpoint and re-opened it. It seemed to
fix the problem.

Dave, thanks for pointing out in your post that the drag feature is
available in PP 2008.

To your problem. As I said the use [Apple Key] + g key combo to hide and
unhide your guides. Can you believe the Powerpoint help had no mention of
"Static Guides". Very bad!

This is a real annoyance for me too. Sometimes I can move a guide, but I can't copy it by holding down option. Sometimes I'll move a guide and a line will remain in the old position, and that line won't go away when I change the zoom or turn guides on and off. Restarting the document only helps remove these phantom guides. Another weird thing that happens when I'm trying to move or copy guides is that the mouse will pick up some nearby object and drag it around even after I've released the mouse button: I have to re-click the mouse button to drop the object.

This is all very distressing. I rely on a lot of guides (> 10) because I'm making a large poster.
