Problems with Sum(IF....

I developed a spreadsheet on W98 which included many
SumIf formula. When i saved this spreadsheet to XP all
was fine until I copied any of these formula to other
cells or other worksheets. Now, they always returned a
zero value! The only difference between the two formula
was that the original one, which worked, has { } at
either end of the formula, i.e. {=Sum(IF....)}. This is
not something I put in when I designed the formula and
when I insert them into the new formula it changes it to
text! Does anyone know what is happening?

All I know is that the {} around a formula basically mean
it is an "ARRAY", not just a formula.
