Problems with table MSP_VIEW_RES_ENT

Alfredo

Hi all,

We are using Project Server 2003 in an enterprise enviroment. We have a
problem when we add a new resource in the Enterprise Pool, because the table
MSP_VIEW_RES_ENT doesn´t refresh the new data, so we can´t see the
information of the resource from PWA.

Any idea?

Thank you in advance

Have you verified on the servers that there are no errors and that the
viewdrop folder is processing the xml files correct?

How can I verify this errors on the servers?

Hi again,

We have realised that there are no errors on te servers and the viewdrop
folder is processing properly the files when we publish a project.

But we have a Resources Pool with all the enterprise resources and we have
never publish this file, we only save it with the blue icon of Project. Until
now we haven´t had any problems with this operation.

Shall we have to publish the resources pool?

Thank you,

Alfredo

You are right that you don't need to publish the enterprise resource pool.

Have you tried adding the resources through PWA?

Hi,

We need to add the resources through Project Professional cause we have some
personalized fields like calendars, enterprise...

It´s possible to complete this fields through PWA?

Thank you for your effort!

No, you are correct that there are certain data items that cannot be updated
via PWA. I am at a loss as to why the changes you are making in the
checked-out enterprise resource pool are not making it into PWA after you
save the check it back in.

Hi Alfredo,

MSP_VIEW_RES_ENT is a view table in MS Project Server 2003 and it
get's data through publishing process. Yes, you are correct. It's not
required to publish the enterprise resource pool. Please remember,
all your edits on enterprise resource pool will go through publishing
process. Each edit/creating the new resource info will create the
separate xml file.

Example: Suppose, you open the 10 enterprise resources in enterprise
resource pool and perform the edits on these resources and save. It
triggers the publishing process and it creates 10 xml files under view
drop folder to process and update MSP_WEB and WSP_VIEW tables.

I can suggest the following test to referesh the resource pool info in
PWA:

1) Lauch MS Project Pro 2003 by connecting with adminstrator account

2) Tools menu > Enterprise Options -> Open Enterprise Resource Pool

3) Click on Open/Add

4) Make sure you are in Resource view with all your required columns
are displayed

5) Enter resource information

6) File -> Save

7) FIle -> Close

8) Verify the VewDrop folder whether you still have xml file related
to resource pool edit (Depends on your default drive of Project Server
application, View drop folder can be accesible from: Program Files
\Microsoft Office Project Server 2003\BIN\ViewDrop)

9) Once the xml file will be processed from queue, resource info will
be available on MSP_VIEW_RES_ENT table.

Thanks
