I'm using Outlook 2000 (IMO) and have a questions about TaskBar views,
which don't seem to be working correctly in my installation.
Specifically, the TaskBar view date filtering criteria don't seem to
be being applied correctly. For example, "Today's Tasks" should show
only tasks which are due today. Instead, for me, "Today's Tasks" shows
all uncompleted tasks.
Likewise, "Active Tasks for Selected Days" shows all tasks that have a
due date on OR AFTER the selected day(s), rather than just those with
due dates ON the selected day.
I have tried applying a filter via the "Customize Current View..."
option, but doing that seems to apply the filter to ALL views, rather
than just the current view. For instance, if I have "Today's Tasks"
selected, and I apply a filter to display only tasks with due dates in
the next seven days, when I change to the the "Active Tasks for
Selected Days" view it shows NO tasks when the selected days are more
than seven days in the future, even though there are tasks due on the
selected days; the filter is preventing them from being displayed.
One thing I have noticed is that at least the "Active Tasks for
Selected Days" view seems to be filtering based on Creation Date
rather than Due Date. While the selected days are after the creation
date of the first uncompleted task, the view shows all tasks due from
the selected days forward. If the selected days are BEFORE the
creation date of the first uncompleted task, NO tasks are shown.
The Views are clearly doing something, and the views that restrict
tasks based on completion status are working correctly in that
respect. It's just the date criteria that are not doing the right
thing.
So, does anyone know where the criteria for the default TaskBar views
are set? Are they configurable at all? I'm perfectly happy with
modifying .INI files or registry entries if necessary. Alternately, is
there an HTML file (similar to the Outlook Today outlook.htm) that the
TaskBar is based on and that could hence be modified?
Or is there anything else I might try in order to fix this? Is this a
recognized problem?
Thanks very much for your suggestions; this is quite a puzzling issue
and I appreciate any help or suggestions you might be able to give.
