Problems with the help system - Office 2000

Podger

I am experiencing problems with the help system in Office
2000 + SP3 running on Windows 2000 + SP3.

When I display help on all topics, the links beneath the
title e.g. ‘See Also’, ‘Example’, ‘Specifics’ etc are not
properly displayed and they do not function.

Is this behaviour to be expected from the help system, and
if not, what fix should I recommend to my IT service
provider to solve the problem.

Please note that my IT service provider may also have
applied a number of hot fixes above SP3.

Many thanks in advance.
Podger.

Hi Pdoger,

If your Office 2000 system is current then one of
the security fixes in the updates was to turn off
the potential security hole that could be exploited
through the use of the examples and definition popups.

(MS changed to a different method for Office XP/2002)

Hi Bob,

Many thanks for your help. Hopefully MS will fix some of
the help system dis-functionalities in later service packs.

Best regards
Podger

Hi Podger,

You're welcome :)

It's unlikely that Office 2000 will see a change
in this area at this point in its product cycle.
Office XP/2002 and Office 2003 use a different method
for displaying definitions (and few 'how to' links
for demos).
