Problems with the installation

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Had a copy of Mac:Office 12.0.0, but couldn't ever upgrade it successfully. Finally bought another copy (digital download) of 12.1.6 to install - had already moved the other to a 'safe location'.

The install completes successfully, however, when attempting to open any of the Office programs I get the following error:

"A problem has been detected with the Microsoft Office installation." and "try running the Office Installer again to resolve the problem".

I have run the installer four additional times (restarting the computer between times) and the results are the same.

Help! Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi Diane,

Thank you for supplying the help files. I got rid of all of the old plist files (as a trial) and reinstalled the digital download. While the results of running Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Entourage etc., were the same as before, MS Messenger would run however. I don't know if that changes anything or not.

I'm not really sure we can help with your problem via the forum. It appears
you might have issues that are a bit too complex for us to see of guide you.
Do you have someone in your area that can help? What about a local Mac User
Group? I do consulting, but I'm not sure I could even help over the phone
with something like this.
