Problems with the right margin and font size in Word 2004 for Mac

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone out there can help me, a newbie to the MAC world
and a convert from a PC.

I'm trying to preview and print a document I just completed. When I
go to check the margins, it says it is 1" left and right, but when I
preview and print it, there is about 2" on the right and less than 1"
on the left. I don't understand why the Mac version of Word doesn't
work like the PC version because I've never had this problem. Is
there a way to centre the page so it prints properly like in the PC
version?

I'm also using a font called Frutiger LT Std 47 Light cn which I've
used on the PC to originate another document. For some reason when I
print, the 11pt font is not the same size. It appears larger on the
PC file than the MAC file. Are there different fonts for PC and MAC
that I should be aware of? This is a corporate font that I have to
use and I'm working from my home laptop which is now a MAC.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

About the margins: Are you sure you don't have margin mirroring
enabled? When you transfered your documents from Windows to OS X, did
you also bring along the document templates?

About the fonts: Frutiger is a linotype font available in opentype,
truetype, and postscript. See if your company has the open version and
install that. OpenType is MS's invention and should work the same of
both machines.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. No, I do not have margin
mirroring enabled. I originated the second document with my new
MacBook Pro in Word 2004 for Mac so I didn't bring over any document
templates. I'll look into the link you provided but if you have any
other suggestions on how to fix the margins so that the content is
more centred, that would be very helpful.

When I go to page set up, it automatically selects US letter as the
size but provides it in centimetres and I'm used to inches. Do you
know how I change that?

Thanks again,
Karen

Check Word>Preferences>General, choose the measurement system there.

If Print Preview is displaying the anomaly you may need to update your
printer driver - that combined with the OS print services are what generate
the preview. What happens if you go to Page Setup & in the Format for: list
you select Any Printer?
