Problems with video in PowerPoint

I just purchased my 12" Powerbook and am enjoying it immensely. The
problem I have run into is that my PC PowerPoint presentations won't
play my wmv files. I have converted them to mov files. They video is
still jerky, jumping from scene to scene and skipping some altogether.
The sound is fine. When I play the videos in QT they play without
incident. Does the mac PP video player use Quicktime? In the pc world
it is possible to insert the video as an object and use media player to
play it. Is the same thing possible on the mac?

I just read cpercival's post reference quicktime problem workaround. I
think that may have what I was thinking of. I will give it a try and
get back with the results.
