Problems with viewing and inserting picture in Word 2007

When I insert a picture into Word doc it is visible only from the Full Screen
Reading Pane, not in the Print Layout, where I see only a blank box. I have
Vista and Office 2007 since September 2007 and it has worked normally for the
first two months, the problem appeared out of nowhere. So to manipulate a
picture I have to go back and forth between the full screen and print layout.
Very frustrating. After a while I discovered that the problem is with text
wrapping, if I change it to anything but IN LINE W/TEXT (which is default) I
can see the picture, but it completely messes up any text formating and
requires a lot of work to fix it. However, even this cumbersome solution
does not work in compatibility mode, since text wrapping formating was not
avalable in 2003 version. Not even if I resave it in 2007 format. PLEASE
HELP! IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS

In Word 2007, click on Office Button | Word Options | Display | check
the boxes for "Print drawings created in Word" and "Print background
colors and images" | Advanced | scroll down to the "Show document
content" section, check the boxes for "Show background colors and images
in Print Layout view" and "Show drawings and text boxes on screen", and
uncheck the "Show picture placeholders" box | OK.
