Problems with Word 2002 lining

W

WildLily

I'm not using an english version of Word but I'll try to be as specific as I
can and translate the messages in English...

I have a huge problem with word when I use images and numbered lists. The
problem occurs when I try to move an image from one page to another and with
numbered lists when a list item would go to the next page. Both start a weird
action. Word starts "relining" the document and with it the document gains
thousands of pages. The document could be 15 pages and after the rearranging
the lines it has 1500 pages. Everything I've written to the document is on
the first 15 pages and the rest are empty. During the rearranging it
sometimes gives me the option to stop the action by pressing Esc-key and then
it asks if I want the rearranging to continue or to stop rearranging. When I
want it to stop, I end up in the Normal mode and have to undo whatever I did
with the image or the numbered list and then I can go back to the Print mode
(the mode where you can see the edges of the papers while you're editing it)
and I've got 15 pages again. This occurs sometimes even when I try to edit an
image. i don't even have to move it anywhere.

I hope you could understand my problem, it's difficult enough to explain in
my own language let alone translate in English!

If you have any clue, please anwer me quickly, I've got a dissertation to
write!

Since the problem occurs when you are working with graphics then that
could be a cause of your problem.

I don't necessarily have a lot of specifics on this, but from what I
can gather it has to do with the paragraph the object is anchored to.

Word is attempting to keep the paragraph on the page, and since the
object is also anchored to the paragraph it's trying to keep it on the
page, so it goes to the next page, and tries the same and fails again,
so it goes into a continuous repagination loop.

It may have to do with the Keep Lines Together Property
(Format/Paragraph/Line and Page Breaks) or it could be one paragraph
is spanning multiple pages and the object is looking for a paragraph
mark to anchor to, and cannot find it, because no paragraph either
begins or ends on that page.

Please post all follow-up questions to the newsgroup. Requests for
assistance by email can not be acknowledged.
