Problems with Word 2004 for Mac

H

Hayden

I recently purchased an apple powerbook G4 (currently running OS X
10.3.7) and installed Microsoft Office 2004 student and teacher without
any problems. After a couple of months of trouble free use, Word has
started crashing when I try to open any word documents. When trying to
open straight from finder, or through Word, it simply stops responding
and displays the 'spinning wheel of doom' before I've even selected a
document. All other Office products (ie. excel, powerpoint) are running
fine.

Does anybody have any clues as to why this is happening?

There's not quite enough detail there to be diagnostic. I would suspect a
corrupted font as my first guess.

1) Reboot

2) repair disk permissions

If they do not fix it, carefully follow the procedures here:

Cheers

No, but here's a quick and easy thing to do: make a new User (at system
level) and see if Word works okay when you are logged in as that User.
If so, then you know the problem is limited to the old User. m.
