Problems with Word

I just downloaded the new Service Pack for Microsoft Office 2004 and
now when I want to open old Word documents, the default application is
EXCEL instead of Word. Also, old PowerPoint documents refuse to open.

Any suggestions.

the default application is EXCEL instead of Word.

As with any other OS X file association. CTRL-click on a Word file,
choose Get Info. In the "Open with" pane, choose Word, then click Change
All.

Hi Folks,

This is one of the many side effects of SP2. to fix this open Windows
Explorer and go to:

Tools | Folder Options | File Types

select Word and
change the file 'Open' option to Winword.exe (from excel.exe)
Click OK

This should work.

This should work.

Since Office 2004 is a Macintosh suite, I doubt it... <g>

However, the basic procedure is similar:

Select a word file in Finder, choose File/Get Info. In the Open With
pane, choose Word and click Change All.
