Producer Presentation hanging up IE6

Hello. I am hoping someone out there can help me. I have made a
presentation in Producer which includes slides from PowerPoint and a short
video made in Windows Movie Maker. It plays fine on my computer. I uploaded
it to my classroom website without a problem. The problem I am having is
that the presentation begins as if it is loading, displaying the "cover page"
and loading all of the files. But after it finishes loading the files it
hangs. The status bar at the bottom says "Done" and the "Play" link is
there, but the application is not responsive. I have updated all of the IE6
files. I have tried deleting it, republishing it, and trying again and
again, to no avail. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? Better
yet, how to fix it?

I am using Producer because I can not get the PowerPoint presentation saved
as a web page to work on the website either. Help!

If it matters, I am using Windows XP Home Edition, the entire Office 2003
suite, and my webpage is made using FrontPage.

Is there an internet facing version of the presentation?

There is a problem that sometimes comes up in the preload function that you
may be experiencing. Try a start up url with #nopreload=1 parameter
appended to see if that is the issue.

Sub-NumberFamilies_files/Default.htm. I tried changing the hyperlink address
to Sub-NumberFamilies_files/Default.htm#nopreload=1 and got a message saying

page uder Thursday Aug. 17; it just says "here". (I am testing it, so

I also see the hang problem that you see. The change I am suggesting is to
change the "here" link to be something like:

Sub-NumberFamilies_files/Default.htm#nopreload=1&autostart=1&event=1

(that forces nopreload, autostarts the presentation and always starts at
the beginning rather than the last viewed spot).

I am not totally sure what the root cause is but using the url that I
indicated the presentation ran. Using just "nopreload" still had a problem.
I am not sure of the root cause -- maybe related to the animation in the
first slide?

Thank you so much! You are a lifesaver. I changed the link and it now
runs. The only problem is synchronization of audio and slides. The second
slide has narration which I recorded directly into PowerPoint; it delayed in
starting which threw off everything else. The movie started when it was
supposed to in the timeline, but the 2nd slide narration was still running.
Do you think rerecording the narration directly into Producer will help?
Also, while the movie was running I was unable to skip to other pages. Is
this because the slides only load for the first time in succession according

What I have done is record the narrarion/talking head separately, pull it
into Producer as a complete media file (or in parts if that is the way it
was done) and assemble it all on the timeline.

I am not sure about the delay of narration and the overlay onto the movie.
I would have to see what all looks like on the timeline to possibly
determine what the problem is and suggest a potential solution.

If you can save the presentation via "Pack and Go" and get it to me somehow
(email if is not too large), I will take a look and may be able to offer
suggestions.

If you are streaming from a web server you will be unable to skip forward
on the timeline (regardless of how you initiate the skip process) until the
media has downloaded to the point you want to skip to. If the media is
audio only and the user and server have lots of bandwidth often it is not
noticeable as an issue as the audio will download fairly quickly. Video
though is denser and takes longer to download -- the effect you are seeing
then becomes obvious. Streaming from a media server will overcome that
problem (but has its own issues).
