Gary,
The broadcast will send live sound, video and a html version of your
presentation across the internet or Local Area Network. Producer will allow
you to pre-stage it better, by importing your presentation into a timeline,
and allowing you to add video and sound. So, broadcasting is for on-demand
type presentations, while Producer is for internet streaming and CD's. You
typically connect live to a broadcast, while you download and play Producer
results from a link. Although you can record a broadcast for later viewing.
As for broadcasting, it needs a lot of work, imho. I've wasted hours over it
and it seems to get worse in each new version. Producer seems more reliable,
but you cannot broadcast live.

What is the difference between these two applications Producer for Microsoft
Office PowerPoint 2003 vs. PowerPoint 2003 Add-in Presentation Broadcast.
Has anyone been successful at producing a live video broadcast with either
of these products? If so what video input device have you found
compatible?
