Is there anyway to customize the tables for this list? For example i would
like to import a csv file into the Product and Service Items List with the
following tables...

<item number><item description><item cost><item MSRP> etc

PLease help!!!

BCM will only import the fields they recognize; i.e. fields in the
Products table in the database.

I suppose it's possible to add columns to the database table. If you
the existing columns alone, BCM should keep working.

Be sure to back up your database before experimenting!

Luther,

Why did they not make the product/service table customizable as the rest of
the tables within BCM. Any way to let the development team know that this
is something they should work on. The biggest improvement in 2007 is that
it's customizable. To leave the product/service table out, is a mistake!

They should definately allow changes to that table in the next/final
release. It would be foolish not to.

My understanding is that for each release they make a list of the most
desired features and then implement the top N that they think they can
get done in time.

Judging by the request in this newsgroup, customizing the products list
probably didn't make the cut for v4. Also, BCM is principally a contact
manager, and the products list can be imported from from the accounting
application it is integrated with. You may want to look into keeping
more extensive product info there.

I'm sure someone there is adding your request to their list of possible
features for the next version, although given the fact that they added
integration with accounting applications instead of adding accounting
feature to BCM, they may add integration with inventory management
applications.

The problem with that thinking is that many people are in service industries.
The current conguration of the product/service list is really set up for
products, not services.

I am in the mortgage industry and would need to convert those product fields
into usable information. We dont calculate cost and products the same way.
