product code

I had to reformat my hard drive and when I installed office pro 2003 it ask
for the product code, Ientered the code and ofice installed. The first time I
tried to open word it ask for the product code again, I entered it and it
said it was a invalid code. Is there a different code?

When you formatted your HD did you also use the recovery disk that came with
your computer? If so, then it could be that it came with Works Suite
installed which includes Word. If Word is already installed then it won't be
installed again, or replaced, when you install Office 2003. So even though
you entered the product code for Office another is required for Word since
it's a separate installation.

Check Add/Remove Programs and see if a stand alone version of Word is
listed. If so, uninstall it, reinstall Office 2003 and makes sure Word is
selected for installation.

If you find this to be the case if you find the product key for Word you
still want to uninstall it and use the Office 2003 installation. Otherwise
you'll be dealing with two installations and, as you already found, it can
be a pain to keep track of two installation CDs and two product keys.
