product key certificate of authenticity...

Hello!

I desperately need help! I got a virus and I had to
restore my system and now that I am trying to add back in
Microsoft Office XP I am being asked for my 25 character
product key certificate of authenticity, but I can't find
it. I'm in the process of moving after 15 years and I
have all my things packed in boxes. I have the discs, but
I have no idea where the paperwork is.

I registered everything before, but I had no idea I'd have
to do it again...now I'm stuck! Does anyone know if there
is somewhere at Microsoft where they can pull up my
records by name or something...I need help! I have
soooooo many work documents, reports, Girl Scout leader
things, etc. that I need access to and no way to access
them.

Please help! Thanks! Also, this is my first time posting
anything here so I'm not sure how it works!

The "Key" number they are requesting is on the backside of
the original wallet that holds the software C-D. On the
back of the wallet that holds the C-D there is a number
that identified as "Product Key".

HOpefully, you kept your C-D's in the original wallet
file. If you have destroyed the original wallet that the
software C-D's came in, I do not have an answer for
obtaining the Product Key number.

Good Luck !

Thanks Laverne,

But THAT is my problem...I can't find the wallet or the
original booklet...eeeeek!

Thanks anyway!

Download this small program and run it. It will tell you the User Keys for
the Microsoft programs on your computer. Worked for me last month when I
had a machine hit by the virus and had to find the ID of the User Key on
that particular machine. Reloaded the programme and then did the telephone
registration.

Good luck

Mike,

You're awesome, but unfortunately, I tried it and it
didn't work for me, because I don't need the key for
Windows, but for my Microsoft Office XP. Darn! But
truly, thank you for trying to help!

At least for me, keyfinder listed both the Windows and the Office product keys.

keys.
It works for all Office Apps. and Windows for me as well. Try the v1.5 beta
and see if that works better for you. Ver. 1.41 does extract the Office Keys
but labels them #1, #2, etc. rather than identifying them as Office, Publisher,
Visio, etc as the beta does.

Unfortunately, Keyfinder doesn't do Office 2000.

KeyFinder won't tell you the key used to install Adobe Photoshop or Nero
either. However, since the OP was asking about a Product Key for MS Office XP,
I didn't think it was important to mention it.

Download the Belarc Advisor profile program from Belarc.com.

It gave me my Adobe Acrobat 5 and Windows 2000 Pro Keys - and my Nero as
well. (Page 3!!!)

Printed it and kept it in a file just in case.

Sorry, I mixed this up with another thread where the poster was asking
about Office 2000. I guess I shouldn't post with my eyes closed.

Mike,
Coming in in the middle of a NG thread is almost as dangerous as walking up in
the middle of a conversation(and analogous to it, as a matter of fact.) Adobe
and Nero weren't the issue, I was teasing Gary for not reading the OP. I know
about and use BelArc for myself and clients, but it's overkill(and confusing to
a novice) when the guy only wants to get his Office Key. Gary realizes he
goofed, see his later post to the thread, and we're having a good chuckle over
it <G> <G> <G>.

Cheers,
John
