If the setup refused to accept the product key, it believes the product key
is NOT valid, and you need to ring your local Microsoft office. The phone
support people can sort this out for you.
On the other hand, the Language of the operating system must be set to the
language of the software being installed. If it isn't, the installation
will fail.
If that is the problem, you can change the system language and reboot the
computer to fix it.
I don't think the problem is bad language (at least, not from the OS
language...) because it gives a different indication.

After Software License Agreement (during setup), valid product key was
entered.
The setup wouldn't proceed and clicking of the 'continue' key did nothing.
