product key error

I recently purchased the ultimate steal through the school that i go through
for cheap. well, I can't get the product key to work so i can use it. I have
it downloaded and installed, the sku number, product number and a customer
number. the name of the company was digital river, and when i called
microsoft they had thier number. please help me i have homework due and i
really need this software. thanks:)

Was any Trial version of Office preinstalled on this PC?
Did you also purchase the backup disks? or if not save the installation
file(s) to external media?
