Product key for Microsoft Home and Student 2007

I purchased a HP laptop that had Microsoft Home and Student 2007 installed
and was given the product key for it. However, when the request for the
product key popped up and I entered the product key that was given to me when
I purchased the laptop, I received a message saying that the product key was
incorrect. How do I go about getting this rectified or do I have to purchase
Microsoft Home and Student 2007 again? I tried several links to getting
another product key but to no avail and I was left pretty frustrated. Can
anyone help me out? Thanks.

Are you trying to enter the product key that you found on the laptop?
Because if so, that's the product key for WINDOWS not Office. You need to
look elsewhere for the Office key.

Depends whether the HP Version was a trial version, which has now expired,
if it was a full version contact HP.
However if it is a trial version, uninstall it, together with any activation
assistant, before installing your purchased version, which generally is
cheaper to purchase from amazon.com, plus you get the cd/dvd

Hey Gordon

Thanks so much for your response and yes, it was the product key that was
located beneath the laptop. So does this mean that I did not get a product
key for the Office programs, and if so, would I have to then purchase it?

If the trial was pre-installed, then all you should have had to do was to
activate it. If the trial was downloaded, then you /should/ have got an
email with the key in it.
Has the trial expired? If so then yes, you need to purchase a licence. (Best
to do it via Amazon or NewEgg or some on-line retailer. Cheaper than MS AND
you get a CD/DVD....)

Thanks again Gordon, you were indeed very helpful. My trial has expired so I
guess I'll have to purchase the full package. I tried purchasing it off
Amazon, but I got a message that it is only applicable to US citizens and I
live in the Caribbean. I guess I'll have to buy it off Microsoft.com. Thanks
again for your help.
