Hi

I've a trial on my new laptop (microsoft vista) of microsoft office incl
word, excel, powepoint, publisher, access etc etc. The trial is ended now
and word is only working in a kind of read only version. I have now bought a
product key for microsoft office home and student 2007 from my local retailer
which just has the basics of what I need.

However when I tried to convert and enter the new product key it says its
not recognised.

Do I have to uninstall the trial, how do I do that..........I'm worried it
will wipe all my files on the laptop that I need (my cv amongst other
things!)?

All help very welcome!

Uninstall the trial, via add/remove dialogue, data is not removed, re boot
PC, install Office from CD
NB Office H&S does not contain Access, Outlook or I believe Publisher

Thanks for your help but I don't have a cd to install office! What can I do
now?

If I uninstall microsoft office it says the size is 449MB or something, that
can't be right, can it if I uninstall that size item?

I don't want access etc - just word, excel and powerpoint which are on the
H&S I've got. Or am trying to get !!

Thanks again, sorry for all the questions!

According to the back of the pack it says "the package contains a product key
which will activate a pre installed copy of Microsoft office home and student
2007".

Hope you can help?

Thanks

What you bought was a media less license kit license. See number 3 below.
What this means is that you have purchased a worthless license from a
company that is selling them without preinstalling the software on a
computer (this is a violation of their license with Microsoft and what you
have won't activate a trial version.) You need to go back to your "local
retailer" and have them sell or give to you the media (CD or DVD) to install
the software.

The preinstalled but purchased key from where the computer is purchased is
the Media License Kit or #3 below.

Directly from the EULA for the product: © Microsoft Corp.
EULAID:O12_RTM_CLT.0_SPE_EN

3. MEDIA-LESS LICENSE KIT TERMS
1. OVERVIEW. These license terms permit installation and use of one copy of
the software on one device, along with other rights, all as described below.
2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS. The software license is permanently
assigned to the device with which you acquired the software. That device is
the "licensed device." A hardware partition or blade is considered to be a
separate device.
a. Licensed Device. You may install one copy of the software on the
licensed device in your household for use by people who reside there. The
software is not licensed for use in any commercial, non-profit, or
revenue-generating business activities."
