product key number

my computer crashed and now i need the product key for my ms office to open
it. I do not have the product key. i bought the home edition from walmart and
recently moved and cannot find the cd. Can i use my mom and dads product key
since they only have one computer? or do i need to use there disk to
reinstall office? i saw that you can call and get your product key but i dont
have the disk or i would not even be here. i would really hate to go and
spend another hundred dollars on office.

Check the terms of the End User License Agreement that came with you mom and
dad's software to make sure that you can legally install it on multiple
systems. If you can, I'd recommend uninstalling yours and re-installing
from their CD with their product key (if it's legal according to the license
terms).

It would only be legal if it is the HOme and Student or Student and Teacher's edition (2007 and 2003 respectively) as that is the only editions of Microsoft Office that allow for the use of a license to mulitple persons.
