Hi

I've a trial on my new laptop (microsoft vista) of microsoft office incl
word, excel, powepoint, publisher, access etc etc. The trial is ended now
and word is only working in a kind of read only version. I have now bought a
product key for microsoft office home and student 2007 from my local retailer
which just has the basics of what I need.

However when I tried to convert and enter the new product key it says its
not recognised.

Do I have to uninstall the trial, how do I do that..........I'm worried it
will wipe all my files on the laptop that I need (my cv amongst other
things!)?

All help very welcome!

If you had Access and Publisher, you did not have Office Home and Student
and your computer knows the difference.

Back up your files (just as a safeguard), uninstall the trial software,
install the paid software.

Thanks for coming back to me..........Yes I think I had quite a "fancy" set
up previously! I don't need all that stuff just the wee basics that I've
bought.

Do I uninstall the trial by deleting all mentions of microsoft office ie if
I go to Programs and features in 'Control panel' and delete the "2007
Microsoft office system" - its 499MB...............can that be correct?

Yes, go into the control panel and uninstall it in there.

Actually I didn't post in 7. I posted in this and in the general one because
I needed help and was in a bit of a panic. I never pretended to know all the
answers on the techy stuff, that's why I came here. Thank you JoAnn for your
help, I've got it sorted now.

Peter - you might want to give people the benefit of the doubt in future.
Posting stuff like "lights on but no one is home" about me isn't really cool.
I hope some day that when you need someones help with something you don't
know anything about, they will help you and not judge so quickly.

No harm done, Ireland is a peaceful nation so I'm starting anything!
Thanks all & take care
