Product key problems

J

Jacob P.

I recently bought Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 at an electronics
store, and installed it on my laptop. However, whenever I go to activate the
program, it says my product key is incorrect. I have tried to enter the
product key on Word, PowerPoint and Excel, but it gives me the same message
every time. Tried it with caps lock on and off, still nothing. Now, the
programs say I have about 11-12 times left to before I am required to enter
the product key.

Any help on why the product key that is on the back of my package will not
activate?

Also... if your computer came with a trial version, make sure that the trial
version has been completely removed.

I too have this problem. I have my product key that has never been
used before but my program keeps on saying that the key is invalid
although I only bought the software a week ago. I have already
closely examined the key and i have entered every possible combination
that it could be but it still won't accept it. Any ideas on what i
should do?

Thanks for the ideas, my hard drive crashed, Geek Squad replaced the hard
drive, I had to download MS office 2007 again, and the system would not
accept my original key. I have tried to find the steps to delete original
trial version - I could not, I have ensured that numbers/letters were
accurate - did not change the outcome, and I still cannot figure out what
steps to take for resolution. The email to Microsoft provided me with a link
to pay $99 and some other vague links to assist, to no avail.

Any additional thoughts or links to process would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Download (as in from the internet) or install (as in from the disks)?

Where did you buy your software?

Everyone it seems has the same problem. The packaging I got with my laptop
mentions the trial version of the office program but there is no such thing
as a 25 letter key on the sticker, there is 12 numerals only. I am really to
give up on this, I heard there are free office programs out there and if
Microsoft doesn't want our business we maybe should all forget them. I did
two spreadsheets, even going to the desktop and back into the spreadsheet
counted against me. I am down to six and what's worse will now have to re do
my new spreadsheet set up in a new program. No answer from Microsoft. This
was one of two rebate products that came with the laptop. Wish now I had
saved my time and postage and the $ up front.

Contact your Laptop manufacturer / supplier and ask them where they put the
key
Its not an MS problem / issue, but one for your supplier

If they mention the trial version, that's probably what they included.

The trial version is good for a certain period of time, after which you have to
purchase it if you want to continue using it. When you purchase it, you get the
25-character key.

Microsoft will sell you a copy of Office but they don't give it away. If "free"
is a necessary part of the deal, then you'll need to install something other
than Office.

Good lighting makes no difference.
I have had Office 2007 Home and Student for almost a year. I had no problems
entering my product key when I first installed the CD.
I recently had to install a new hard drive since mine failed. In turn I had
to reinstall all my software today. In doing so, I too am now getting an
error saying "invalid character when I try to enter 0 (zero) which is what my
key is so I tried entering o (letter o) and that didn't work either.
So why did my key work last year and not today????
Way to go Microsoft.

I downloaded from Microsoft's web site. I have the same problem. There is
no contact information on the site. There is no way to get help. I guess I
need to stop payment from my credit card to get someone's attention! I
copied and pasted the key and it still did not work! This is BS.

You're issue is with the computer manufacturer, not Microsoft. Microsoft
cannot/will not help you with OEM software issues - that's why you paid less
for the software.

To replace a CD or Product Key, you must contact Product Service Support. To
locate the appropriate phone number for your product, visit the following

I have been having the same problem but nothing here seems to say how to
fix. it I am so fristrated with the solution center because it keeps asking
for the product key which it then says is invalid.. :1 " is not a valid #...
I have installed and removed 4 x now... and nothing.. Why shoudl I pay $59
for something that should work... I bought my software in a retail pack from
Staples hardly a counterfeit... why do you keep linking back to the same
frustrating loop

Well, partner.
If you're looking for help with that attitude, you might as well stick your
head between your legs and kiss your ass goodbye. No one here works for
Microsoft. All here are volunteers. I'm glad you're just "fristrated." If
you were "frustrated" I'd really be scared!

have you contacted the seller? Perhaps you were sold a "pirated" key?

First suggestion: Use bright lighting when reading the number. Bs and 8s can
look a lot alike, etc.

Second suggestion: Use telephone activation.
