product key

I have MS office 2000 on my PC and was installing office 2007 on my lap-top
(where I had XPservice pack2 loaded a yr ago) and it asked for the product
key. I entered the MS office key but it was rejected. I believed that one can
use 3 computers for one office key? So why is it rejecting the old product
key?

No, you cannot run one license of Office on three computers *unless it is a
retail version of Office Home and Student*.

What error message are you getting?

will not accept product key is the message. I had previously loaded
office2000 (retail version) and it worked OK until I needed o install addl
drivers for a printer so I loaded XPservice pack 2.

Can I just uninstall 0ffice 2007 to get me back to where i was yesterday?

Where did you find the product key? If off the computer case, that key is
for Windows. Did you make sure to use the correct letters, zero not O, b not
8, etc.

When you say "old" product key, are you saying you are trying to enter
the Office 2000 Product key on your install of Office 2007?

yes I'm entering or trying to...enter the office2000 (incl excel, word etc)
when it prompts me to enter the key on my lap-top. the office 2007 is an
upgrage to my office 2000.

You can't use the Office 2000 key. You must use the Office 2007 office key
you received when you *purchased* the upgrade.

Then you need to enter the *2007* product key.
