Product Updates as shown on Microsoft Windows Update website

Every so often while on my home computer I get a website
message from Microsoft suggesting I check to see what
Windows Updates I may need for my computer. I thus scan
for updates as suggested and one of the updates I'm told I
need is Office 2000 Service Relesae 1a (SR-1a). However,
it also tells me I need to first install Windows Installer
1.1 Redistributable for Windows 95 and 98.
On my computer I have Windows 98 2nd Edition.
My questions is, should I install both of those updates
since I have 98 2nd Editon? Are there any possible
problems I may encounter with this installation? I ask
this because I'm sort of a computer novice.
