professional vs academic

They are identical products. The license agreement governs how the product
can be used. Basically, academic software is for use in the classroom.

Real World Example: I was employed by a university to teach Project
Management and to also create a schedule for implementation of a program to
get the university to become a registered education provider by Project
Management Institure.

It was the interpretation of the university IT department that I could use
academic software in the classroom/lab where schedules were developed as
class projects. They said I had to have a full license for the second
project becuase this was not strictly academic work. It is my personal
belief this was a narrow interpretation.

Certainly, use of the full version is required for my day job as a
management consultant.

Don't risk your livelyhood on the difference in price.

Hello SMC,

In addition to Jim's comment, the difference between Project Professional
and Project Standard is that Project Professional is designed to work with
Project Server. Project Standard will not communicate with Project Server.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
