Profile must be recreated before outlook xp starts

Hello,

I have a unique problem with Outlook XP, running on Windows XP Pro.

After each PC restart or user log off / log on, Outlook fails start,
unless the user profile is recreated.

Outlook /safe also fails to start.

Nothing untoward shows up in either a REGMON or FILEMON trace.

A single AD DC is onsite, running Exchange 2003 is being used for a
small business with approximately 5 users.

All machines connect wirelessly to the server.

I have -

1. Removed MAPI32.DLL and it is automatically repaired.
2. Re-run the Office XP setup, selecting to repair the installation.
3. Removed and re-installed Office XP.
4. Reinstalled XP SP2.
5. Traced the startup of Outlook using REGMON and FILEMON.
6. Applied Office XP service pack.

If I remove and re-create the user profile I can at least login to
Exchange and send and receive e-mails.

HOWEVER, there is a local application that uses MAPI to send e-mails
as part of a company CRM system.

This is working fine for all Windows 2000 clients.

The Windows XP clients consistently fail, and both the application and
outlook hang and eventually crash.

The outlook crashes with a hung app status 0x00000000.

The vendor assures me that the application is valid for Windows XP.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

My lsat resort is fresh installation on a test PC of XP, Office XP and
the application.

Regards

Have you checked user permissions to the CRM folder? It could be they require
read/write permission or better.

All permissions verified, as part of the REGMON & FILEMON
investigation.

It's a real doozy of a problem!

Many thanks.

Since it sounds like you're on a network, is SP2 applied to the XP machines
and did you disable the Windows Firewall Service and stop the service?

There were alrady applied when I started investigating.

As a matter of course, when I removed reinstall OfficeXP, I reapplied
both of the service packs.

Windows Firewall is not enabled and the service is disabled.

Although I think is red herring, since I can connect to the Exchange
server when re-creating the user's Exchange profile.

Thanks.
