I keep getting the following message in outlook: a programming is
trying to access email addresses you have stored in Outlook. Do you
want to allow this? If this is unexpected, it may be a virus and you
should choose "No". Then it gives me an option to allow access and a
time limit or a no option.

I've done a search for it and tried some of the remedies suggested but
still keep getting this message.

Running Symantec Corporate edition and it's up to date. Running Office
XP with SP3--check the Advanced Options for COM Add-in's--nothing
listed. Not running Active-Sync or any PDA programs.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do you have Adobe Acrobat (not Acrobat Reader) installed? If so, that's
most likely the culprit. Use Add or Remove Programs to uninstall the PDF
Maker add-in.

Yes I do have Acrobat installed. I use the PDF Maker add-in sometimes
to create pdf files from Word---is there a work around without
uninstalling Acrobat? Thanks.

I used to have this problem until I found out that an Outlook add-in was
causing the problem - the addin was a program called QuantaZip (for
attachment compression).

I installed Advanced Security for Outlook (search the MS web site), and now
I get the option to allow access or not (and you can grant permanent
permissions too)

Maybe that will help.

Is there a way you can search for all add-ins that would be prompting
this message? As I mentioned before I went into Tools, Options, Other,
Advance Options, and COM Add-Ins and there was nothing listed. Thanks.

I have the same problem. I don't have Acrobat installed.

And I can't find "Advanced Security for Outlook" on MS' web site.

Can't find quantazip.exe on my hard drive either.

Please advise...

DO you have a hard time reading? When did I ever say to look on MS"s web
site for "Advanced Outlook Security"? Just click the URL I included if you
want to find it.

I never mentioned "quantazap.exe" either.

I tried MAPilabs solution, but my problem isn't just the popup. When I
choose yes or no, outlook has an unexpected error, and it restarts. So, now
with Mapilabs program it skips that step and just restarts outlook. I don't
have any add-ins installed, no acrobat, no PDA, and it only seems to occur
when I get an email from a company like travelocity or expedia etc.

let me know if it works fine
for the others who have the problem with addin
follow it only if you know how to use the registry.
1. take a backup of registry before you try it

start->run->regedit

HKeylocalMAchine->software->microsoft->offic->outlook->addin

and delete in case if you are lookn for pdf addin

I had the exact same problem as you and I too use the PDFMarker Add-in to
create PDF files from word. I found this in one of the other posts and it
works PERFECTLY

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\PDFMOutlook.PDFMOutlook\.
Find the REG_DWORD value LoadBehavior. The value is set to 3 =the button is
visible in the Outlook toolbar. Set the value to 0 =the button will not show
in the toolbar the next time you want to send an e-mail. You can always
reset the value to 3 if you want the button to reappear in the toolbar.

I took it a step further - to quickly turn the PDFMarker Add-in ON and OFF
do the following.

1. Go the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\PDFMOutlook.PDFMOutlook and set the REG_DWORD value LoadBehavior to 3

2. Export this registry entry (I called it PDF ON - you can create a short
cut to this exported registry for easy access)

3. Go the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\PDFMOutlook.PDFMOutlook and set the REG_DWORD value LoadBehavior to 0

4. Export this registry entry (I called it PDF OFF - you can create a short
cut to this exported registry for easy access)

Now when you want to use the PDF Marker - just click on the short-cut for
PDF ON and when you don't need the PDF Marker - just click on the short-cut
for PDF OFF

Hope this solves your problem (it works great for me)
