Progress not making sense

Good Morning

I have had a progressed chart sent to me that does not work. The chart has
been rescheduled from 03.12.08, and the button in tracking for reschedule
uncompleted work from has been set as 03.12.08. When I reschedule the bar in
question goes beyond the christmas break. the %complete is 30 there is only
one predessesor which was complete in november (FS). There is a massive gap
between the start of the bar and the remaining bar which does represent 10
days ie 70% Why is there such a gap and why does it not restart from 03.12.08

Any help would be appreciated, as we cannot issue this at the moment.

Do you have a resource assigned to the task who has non-working time
in their schedule?

I have removed the resource so there are no resources on that bar - I have
rescheduled but the problem still persists

Are there any task calendars on the task or is there non-working
time in the Project calendar? If the predecessor task is 100% and
your remaining duration is 10 days, the 10 days should commence on
the rescheduled date.

I had set the status date as 03.12.08 in Project, Project Information,
Status Date
