Proj 2003 appears to run but cannot open file(s) +

Most of the menus are greyed out. I came into this
situation on a client site and there are no error msgs.
The menus are greyed out even without a file open.

I uninstalled and re-installed but was not asked to re-
activate. Conditions remained the same after installing
again.

The client indicated that he installed a fully licensed
(verified) Project 2003 Std. over a 30 day trial - could
that have something to do with this? The 30 days would
have run out last week. The program worked previously for
about the last month then mysteriously quit.

Any thoughts? How do I ensure that I am getting a clean
install and not getting misled by stray registry keys?

any help is appreciated...
