Proj Pro Licensing

Currently users are accessing project pro/ server via terminal services.
Some users would like to utilize the save offline feature so they can go
mobile with their laptop - this means Proj Pro needs to be installed on their
laptops.

Does this mean they need to purchase 2 project pro licenses (1 for Term
Services and 1 for Laptop)? I certailnly hope not.

Hi,

I think so yes. Check with Microsoft. You can't use the save offline feature
over terminal services: it simply saves to a hidden folder on the TS Server.

You would need to connect directly to Project Server from your laptop to
save offline to the laptop hard drive. This is only feasible if you have a
reasonably fast connection.

I certainly hope you are wrong.

The only reason we are using TS is because Proj Server performance is so
poor across a WAN (we have plenty of bandwidth). This tells me that due to a
flaw in the product, not only does my firm need to purchase TS licenses but
also double-up on Proj Pro licenses? Simply unacceptable.

Rod, this frustration is certainly not directed at you. I appreciate your
response.
I just feel that this is a significant barrier to entry for Proj Server in
deploying across an enterprise.
